Tier One is thrilled, humbled, and grateful to be heading into our 15th year as a full-service PR, social and content agency. We see this moment-in-time as an opportunity to celebrate and recognize our fantastic team members and honoring them by supporting causes dear to them. On the 15th of each month (Feb.’18 - Dec.‘18) we will spotlight a team member and hope to raise a little extra awareness and support for their cause. Here’s to the next 15! #TOP15
Kathy Wilson
Co-Founder, Managing Partner
(Kathy was part of starting it all 15 years ago!)
Tier One is proud to have a managing partner like Kathy because…
She is one of the most passionate people we know. Few people share an equal love for their personal and professional endeavors, but Kathy manages to do just that, always with humor and an abundance of care. And Kathy never ceases to motivate her co-workers to work hard and be creative.
Kathy was born and bred in Boston but...
She doesn’t have an accent—she’s not exactly sure why—but that doesn’t make her any less a proud Bostonian, through and through. She notes its beautiful architecture and coastal beauty, fascinating national history, the top-notch companies and universities that make their homes here, and our fantastic pro and college sports teams (“what can I say, Boston likes winners!”). To paraphrase Shakespeare, Massachusetts may be small but she is fierce!
Something you may not know about Kathy is...
Her love of the outdoors. Kathy’s husband helped her develop a real enjoyment of camping. As part of that, one of her favorite things is planning and cooking gourmet-quality meals in the woods. She especially loves the local area for its versatility because you can be at the beach at 9 am and in the mountains by noon.
For the past five years, Kathy and Tier One have supported…
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Evening of Hope.
Kathy and the entire team at Tier One became inspired to get involved with the Evening of Hope event when a client’s son was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. This client and his family spent four years working with the amazing team at St. Jude’s in Memphis. Thanks to this world-renowned team, our client’s son is healthy today and back with his family in Charlotte.
The incredible thing about St. Jude’s is that no family ever receives a bill for treatment. Instead, St. Jude’s relies on fundraising to ensure these children receive treatment without having to worry about how they will be able to pay for it -- all the families need to think about is getting their child well. The Evening of Hope event was created to raise these crucial funds. Each year, hundreds of members of the Charlotte, North Carolina financial services community gather in the city’s beautiful Urban Garden for an evening of cocktails, celebrity chef tasting stations, music, and live and silent auctions. In just four years, Evening of Hope has raised more than $2 million for St. Jude. All proceeds from the event go towards supporting St. Jude in its mission to serve children battling cancer. The 2018 event was held on Saturday, March 10.
